If you pass all checks listed below, you should be able to use the main features of Blackboard.

This test will immediately fail if you do not have Javascript enabled on your browser. If this check fails, refer to the Browser Settings Guide for instructions on enabling Javascript.

NOTE: Javascript must be enabled in order for Blackboard to function. Java (platform) and Javascript (programming language) are not the same.

For a list of supported Browsers, please refer to the Browser Support Matrix. Firefox is the recommended browser for Blackboard @UMBC. This test may register a warning for IE in compatibility view.

Fail Cookies If this check fails, refer to the Browser Settings Guide for instructions on enabling Cookies for your browser.
Fail Popup Window If this check fails, refer to the Browser Settings Guide for instructions on enabling Popup Windows for your browser.
Fail Port 80 This check works by trying to download an image through the specified port. Port 80 is the standard web (http) port. If this check fails, please open Port 80 in your firewall.
Java Version(s):

The version of Java that Blackboard currently supports is 1.7.0_x.  Older versions may work, but if you're experiencing problems with Blackboard, you may try updating your Java Plug-in.

If more than one version is listed, we recommended you remove the older version(s) to eliminate potential security vulnerabilities, Java Uninstall Tool.

Plugin Checks

NOTE: This tool checks for browser plugins. Your computer could have related software installed, but not the plugin required for the application to work properly within a web browser. Some versions of plugins might not be identifiable in certain browsers.
